Cloud Storage Solutions

The adoption of cloud storage is driven by the exponential growth of data, compliance and retention requirements and certainly the cost of managing storage.  Cloud storage is becoming a very effective alternative to the legacy processes of tape backup and offsite tape storage.  It can also increase productivity through the use of cloud file sharing.   CopperPort will work with you to develop a cloud storage strategy that is secure and meets the needs of your company.

Cloud Backup

CopperPort works with a number of technologies that can provide either a pure or hybrid cloud backup solution.   The pure cloud backup solutions are easy to setup and have little maintenance because you simply run an agent on protected servers and they backup directly to the cloud.    However, there can be performance challenges if your bandwidth is constrained – so this solution is aimed at smaller organizations with only a few terabytes of data.    Hybrid solutions on the other hand utilize a local gateway as the initial target for backups. The on-premises gateway typically caches the most recent backups for local restores, minimizing recoveries from the cloud and then moves data into the cloud asynchronously.   Hybrid solutions are robust and can provide the following benefits:

  • Fast and reliable backup to local gateway storage appliance
  • Compression and source-side deduplication  to help minimize the amount of traffic sent into the cloud
  • Creation of boot images for your servers that will enable the backup device to take over for a failed server if required
  • SAS 70 Type II data centers in the cloud
  • 256-bit AES encryption over SSL
  • Multi-level access control
  • Active Directory & LDAP support

Cloud File Sharing

CopperPort can deliver a solution for online file services that is simple to use, secure and without the costs and administrative complexity of the traditional file server. The solution can be architected to meet the needs of the most demanding organizations.  Cloud file sharing provides the following benefits:

  • Set up a central shared repository
  • Access and share files securely from any PC, MAC, or web enabled mobile device
  • Share extremely large files
  • Centrally administer access to files for internal and external users
  • Avoid the purchase and maintenance of file servers
  • Get file access and revision history
  • FTP service without complexity or additional hardware
